Vinho Gatão Rosé

Am I vinhoholic!? (vinho = wine in Portuguese) Today we don’t have a stock of wine and I was not going to drink but felt so depressed…Then I ran to buy some bottles in the afternoon and enjoyed snacking around 4:00 p.m. Btw, the weather is weird, so warm and news warned a bad air quality because of PM10 from Africa…

Buying Wine 2 Glasses for 5.99€

We took a walk to the market to see a new art series.

On the way home I bought a set of two red wine glasses at Continente, a supermarket. With the collection of 5 stickers (get a sticker for a purchase more than 20€) I was able to buy it for 5.99€ (worth more than 20€). With 15 stickers, it would’ve been free.

Breakfast: Portuguese croissant with chocolate sauce and cream cheese, apple, coffee @ 7:15 a.m.

Soup @ 10:20 a.m.

This is our favorite bread, Trigo from Terrapão (3€). It’s huge and probably weighs 750g-1kg. Crispy outside, soft and chewy inside.

Appetizer: Trigo, pizza bread with olive and chouriço, wine @ 1:00 p.m. This wine is one of my favorite, which is available at Pingo Doce and I buy it when it’s discounted.

Lunch: Spaghetti meat sauce

Walking around the Central Lisbon

Breakfast: Apple pastry & smoked salmon sandwich, coffee @ 8-9:00 a.m.

Summer time starts today in Portugal. We took Metro to Cais do Sodré to walk around the central Lisbon. There were not many people, I assume only locals since the country has been closed and restricts travel between municipalities until Easter.

We can resist anything but freshly baked Portuguese egg tarts. So good 🙂

Stopped by a Asian market to get soba, ramen & curry (total 13€)

Lunch: Leftover curry rice & bacalhau com natas @ 1:00 p.m.

Another egg tart with cinnamon & tea @ 3:15 p.m.

Getting hungry @ 7:00 p.m., banana chips & nuts @ 8:00 p.m.

Bacalhau com Natas & Sardinha Avocate Don

Lunch: Bacalhau com Natas (Creamed salted cod), salad, Alentejo chardonnay @ 1:45 p.m.

Sardinha Avocate Don @ 2:50 p.m.

Simply heat up canned sardine with ginger, garlic and a little bit soy sauce then add avocado. Yummy 🙂

Still hungry @ 7:00 p.m.

Frango Panado (Portuguese Chicken Katsu)

Wine tasting & snacking @ 11:00 a.m., I love a couple of Freixo reds and chardonnay, so why not try Freixo Chardonnay (11€) !? To be honest, it’s good but my expectation was too great to exceed…Or maybe there are too many good and cheaper wines in Portugal. Or Chardonnay was my favorite white in California but Encruzado and Verdelho are my new favorite here in Portugal.

Lunch: Frango Panado with salad @ 1:10 p.m. At first round I enjoyed the chicken simply with salt and lemon.

Second round: Japanese style, with rice, tonkatsu sauce and some green

In the afternoon, we walked to Saldanha area to get some Japanese grocery.

Dashi soy sauce, shredded nori, ramen, green tea soba, dogtooth violet starch, total 23.41€, Japanese grocery is much more expensive with much less variety comparing to Los Angeles. What I miss most about life in LA is 1) Asian food and 2) Driving (surprisingly!)

Pizza Hut Delivery by Glovo

Lunch: pizza+ @ 12:45 p.m., He wanted Hawaiian pizza. Pizza Hut in Lisbon has pizza named ‘Havaiana (Hawaiian)’ but it is totally different from one in the US. It has shrimp, tuna and pineapple…so I just ordered a simple pizza with ham and pineapple for him. (20.90€)

Pan Roasted Duck Magret

I had looked for duck breast for last several months and finally found it (6.29€, 13.49€/kg). I wished to get one never frozen but it seems no place sells only fresh breast and a friend tells me that the frozen is tasty too.

Lunch: Duck Magret with wine sauce, nabiças, Alentejano red @ 1:30 p.m.

Our favorite winery so far. This bottle is only 10€ but it has elegant aroma and complex taste. He loves especially after taste.

We enjoy wine with cheese and moelas (chicken gizzard) before lunch @ 12:00 p.m.

Dessert: chocolate covered cookie & cream (dark chocolate & pistachio)

Instant noodle with egg @ 4:30 p.m., I really don’t like this Pingo Doce brand.
