Feira da Ladra & Pasteis de Bacalhau

Breakfast sandwich @ 8:50 a.m.

We took a 30 minute walk to Feira da Ladra, a famous flea market in Lisbon in the morning. It seems normal now that all venders and crowds are back to the street.

We got home around noon and had iced tea, then I started cooking for lunch.

Lunch: Pasteis de Bacalhau, tomato rice, cress, red wine @ 3:15 p.m.

Dessert: Ice cream

Relaxing Friday

Caldo verde, empada de pato, Douro red @ 11:50 a.m.

Douro red is mostly blended with multiple grapes but this is only Touriga Nacional. Mmmm, I am not a fan of it because it’s more intense and less smooth.

Tried with croissant & sardine paste but still didn’t like it much.

Lunch: Linguini with meatball @ 2:30 p.m.

Visiting Sintra

We went to visit a friend in Sintra, 40 minute away from Lisbon by train. Basically I wanted to make sure how he’s been doing during pandemic since he is a certified tour guide and obviously there have been a lot less tourists. First we caught up at a cafe that served excellent Apple Tart.

He took us to Azenhas do Mar, where we enjoyed amazing views!

I mentioned I loved Portuguese wines, then he introduced us to this excellent wine cellar, which still grows one of the oldest grapes. Amazing!!!

He was going back to work around noon, but ended up enjoying lunch with us. I love it. Truly appreciated he spent more time with us. Since everything is under the red umbrella, food doesn’t look in the pictures but it’s all delicious. Especially I love the steak and sauce!

Pão Pão Queijo Queijo (Bread Bread Cheese Cheese)

We went to Belém to see Jerónimos Monastery before it gets really busy with tourists in summer

Sandwich lunch @ Pão Pão Queijo Queijo (it means “something black and white”), they serve “Subway style” sandwich and it’s pretty good. Of course we can’t miss the original Portuguese egg tarts, Pasteis de Belém.
