Breakfast: Scone & Bolo Lêvedo with Pistachio cream, melon, coffee @ 8:10 a.m.Lunch: O-Bento @ 11:10 a.m., I just put everything in the “bento” box. Two flavored pork, ginger & shio-koji, half boiled egg, sautéed cress & cherry tomato on rice. Cherry tomatoes are so sweet and very delicious!
It’s fun to eat in a different form sometime.
We took a walk up a hill in the afternoon. It’s clearer than yesterday.
Wanted to visit another viewpoint but it was closed because it’s prohibited to hang out in the park during the “lockdown.” However, people enjoy the weather in open parks and squares.“Ramen” @ 3:30 p.m.Still snacking: Chocolate, chips, red wine @ 5:15 p.m.
We live close enough to walk here and have been this park so many times but it was the first time to climb all the way up here on the viewpoint this afternoon.
It was a perfect day to take a walk and get relaxed a bit. It’s prohibited to hang out in the park but walking through is enough to breathe fresh air and get refreshed inside out.
Purchased bread, chocolate and cherry tomatoes at the grocery store near-by.
Breakfast: Bolo de caco with pistachio cream, melon, coffee @ 7:10 a.m.
I go to Lavandaria (self-service) to use a dryer especially for sheets and towels. In Lisbon it’s very humid and rainy in winter. Not common to have a dryer at home either.
First time to buy breads from a bakery on the way to grocery shopping. It’s a tiny place and there are always 3-4 people waiting outside, so I was interested. It’s very cheep like 0.78€ for 4 good-size bread but I am not a big fan of it. I enjoyed it with Sardine pate and wine anyway…@ 10:45 a.m.Lunch: Shio-koji sauteed pork, cabbage, rice, wine @ 1:00 p.m.Followed by Italian snackAfter the walking I finished pate with Bola de mistura (brown bread) and wine @ 4:30 p.m. I like this bread much better than one (carcaças) I had in the morning.
Lunch: Carbonara with guanciale, spinach, Azores cheese, wine @ 1:15 p.m. Parmigiano got mold in the fridge, so I used milder cheese from Azores, which was not bad 🙂
Breakfast: Leftover Italian sweets @ 7:45 a.m., Creamy carrot soup & bread @ 10:50 a.m., Two kinds of cookies are included in the delivery package from an Italian cafe and a wine company.
We have been here for lunch several times and I find something I am interested to try on the facebook page today.Takeaway lunch: Coelho à Caçador (Hunter style rabbit), Arroz de Tamboril (Monkfish rice), Sopa de cenoura cremosa (Creamy carrot soup) 15.40€ @ 12:50 p.m.I like Monkfish rice but am not a fan of rabbit. It tastes a little bit gamey for me. The meat (front in picture) is liver.Late afternoon some grocery & dessert I ordered a couple days ago was delivered (Remi, Italian Cafe)
Cannoli classic (3.50€) & Paris Brest Pistachio (4€)Dessert @ 5:30 p.m.: Cannoli is crunchy and nice, but the filling is a bit too sweet for me. I really liked Paris Brest, cheese filling with raspberry, white chocolate and pistachio.
One of my favorite Portuguese dishes is Arroz de Pato (Duck Rice). This kit, duck meat & broth with simple recipes is very convenient to make it at home instead of working on a whole duck and making it from scratch.I haven’t bought a lot of stuff in the kitchen but used limited tools that come with the apartment. Arroz de Pato is supposed to serve in shallower oven dish but this pot is only something oven safe we have now.Lunch: Arroz de Pato, salad, wine @ 1:40 p.m.
Breakfast: Bolo de laranja, coffee @ 8:30 a.m.I made Arroz de Polvo (Octopus rice) with leftover canned octopus @ 9:50 a.m.Lunch: Black Angus Vazia steak (probably sirloin), potato gratin, red wine @ 1:30 p.m.Potato gratin was good. The steak was a little dry. I like entrecôte (ribeye) better.Dessert: Tarte de amêndoa
Breakfast: Strawberries, chocolate pastry, coffee @ 7:00 a.m.Soup & Bread @ 9:30 a.m., we went to our favorite bakery, Terrapão to pick up a freshly-baked bread, Trigo. It tasted good as always.Lunch: Ginger pork, pimento padrão (very similar to shishito peppers), rice @ 12:50 p.m.
Dessert: Ice cream
Casa Ferreirinha, Papa Figos, Tinto, Douro Portugal: A typical Douro red, well-balanced and smooth. Available for 6-8€ at a local supermarket. One of advantages living in Portugal is enjoying great wine daily-basis like this for less than $10!Lanche: Bread & butter, cheese, olives, red wine @ 3:45 p.m.
I went to a supermarket. When I was thinking what fish to buy in front of seafood section, a store attendant greeted, “Olá bom dia!” I said, “Não sei qual eu queria comprar. (I don’t know what I want.)” Then she recommend this stuffed fish and said, “É muito bom! (It’s very good!)” First I was not sure, but why not! I could try and trust. She said something like “Add salt & pepper, then put in the oven and enjoy with wine wine.” It was all Portuguese, so I understood “mais ou menos (more or less/so so).”
It was actually a good idea to buy a ready-to-cook fish. Easy and quick! Roasted in the oven for 25 minutes.Appetizer: Avocado salad, Spanish cheese, canned octopus, vinho verde @ 12:50 p.m. We ate and drank while enjoying the jigsaw puzzle.
Mini folhados Alheira de caça (Portuguese bread sausage puff). Again it’s easy to bake.Shoot! I forgot to take a picture of the fish out of oven…It was beautiful…It was very good. Since the fish itself tastes very light and bland, bacon gives a flavor with freshness of cilantro & lemon. @ 2:10 p.m. Dessert: Tarte de Amêndoa @ 2:40 p.m.

I slept in this morning till 7 a.m. and had a breakfast (yogurt, bolo de laranja, coffee) @ 8:00 a.m.Finally!!! It’s a beautiful scenery of Porto. It took us 5 days.

Very soft.Leftover bacalhau was not enough. Noodle @ 3:00 p.m.
