Tori no Karaage, Japanese Fried Chicken

One thing I miss about a life in California is an easy access to Asian groceries and restaurants. Because Portuguese food is so delicious with umami and comfortable feeling, it is not important for me to enjoy Asian food so often. However, I crave for it, especially Japanese food so bad once in a while.

In Lisbon, Japanese grocery is more expensive and not in the same quality that I could get in California, so I have only soy sauce and miso in the fridge.

Today, I made Tori no Karaage, Japnese fried chicken with all Portuguese ingredients besides soy sauce. I used white wine instead sake (rice wine) to marinate chicken. One of best outcome ever!

Lunch: Japanese fried chicken, rice, green salad, tomato, miso soup @ 1:10 p.m.

I had the leftover, chips and rose wine @ 2:00 p.m.

Last piece @ 2:30 p.m.

Chop Steak (Costeletas)

Breakfast: Caldo verde, rustic bread & butter @ 8:15 a.m.

We went to a supermarket after breakfast. In Lisbon most supermarkets have seafood sections like this. Isn’t it amazing!?

Picked up our favorite bread as well. It tastes simply like wheat by the slow fermentation process. This huge bread, probably 500-750g with a lot of love costs only 3€.
