A Hidden Café with a Fantastic View of Lisbon

I had brunch with a friend at the cafe she found. It’s truly hidden and I would never know there was a cafe inside from the street.

Salmon salad (8€), Avocado toast (4.50€), Today’s soup (2€), a glass of white wine (3€) @ 11:45 a.m.

On the day, the weather was unstable, clear and raining then clear again with a rainbow!

We had dessert and coffee too (12:45 p.m.). Everything was so tasteful and service was very comfy. Love it!

Later on (3:50 p.m.) we had hot chocolate. It was the best! Rich not too sweet and good amount of cacao. Just perfect for me @ Chocolataria Equador

Tonkotsu Ramen @ Kapitan

My lunch: Tonkotsu Ramen & Portuguese beer (Super Bock) @ 2:00 p.m.

It was not bad although noodle was obviously overcooked. Broth and chashu were nice. It reminded me of ramen in Southern California I used to live.

2nd breakfast: Caldo Verde, bread & butter from Azores @ 10:00 a.m.

Craving Tonkatsu Sauce

I was craving Japanese ‘Tonkatsu Sauce’ so I made Menchi-Katsu for lunch @ 1:45 p.m.

It’s interesting the katsu tastes like Portuguese dish without sauce but becomes Japanese with sauce. He had it with black pepper instead 🙂

Dessert: Cheesecake ice bar @ 3:40 p.m.

Later the afternoon, I prepared ‘Caldo verde’ for tomorrow.

I Made Pasteis de Bacalhau for the First Time

My Portuguese teacher shared a recipe of Pasteis de Bacalhau and we learned cooking vocabularies. The recipe is pretty simple so why not trying since it’s usually difficult to get freshly made ones at restaurants.

Ingredients: potatoes, bacalhau (dried salted cod), eggs, onion, garlic, cilantro, salt, pepper, cooking oil

Basically mix them all, shape with two spoons and deep fried.

Lunch: Pasteis de Bacalhau, arroz de tomate, salada @ 1:30 p.m.

It was good for the first time but one thing I could’ve done better is how to desalt bacalhau. I soaked it in the water too long. The bacalhau has lost sufficient salt and flavor 😦

Dessert

Sweet and a bit sour from cheese or yogurt

More sweet

There is not much chocolate I expected in the big box…but it’s only 4.49€. I understand.

4 flavors

Soba Noodle & Hamburger

We stayed home all day today. Lisbon area is under curfew from 1:00 p.m. till morning on weekends. It was raining…so no problem.

Breakfast: Fuji apple, bolo de mármore, coffee @ 8:00 a.m.

Brunch: Soba with egg & green onion @ 11:00 a.m.

Lunch: Hamburger, chips, red wine @ 2:15 p.m.

Just in case you wonder…we have had a intermittent fasting for a while since I really don’t remember…but probably for several months.

Our meal schedule is usually breakfast at 7-8 a.m., second breakfast at 10-11 a.m. and lunch 1-2 p.m. Then we have a small snack around 4-6 p.m. only if really hungry. Otherwise, fast from 3 p.m. to 6-7 a.m., roughly for 14-16 hours.

My berry has been much smaller now!
