Easy Duck Rice (Arroz de Pato)

The bathroom door had an issue to be closed. It had been somehow deformed or expanded. It was ok for us but the landlord asked if there were anything to repair since the insurance would cover. Then the “handyman” came and fixed (shape/trim) the door.

Soup: Caldo Verde @ 11:15 a.m.

My favorite Portuguese dish is Duck Rice (Arroz de Pato) although I have had it only once. I’ve been thinking to make my own but I only see an entire duck, which I absolutely can’t handle.

A week ago, I found this product at Pingo Doce, a supermarket.

What a saver! It was 6.99€.

It comes with pre-cooked meat and broth of duck.

The box shows 6 easy recipes including Arroz de Pato.

This is my Arroz de Pato. It’s supposed to be backed in the oven but we don’t have a over-safe dish. It was pretty good for the first time 🙂

Christmas Lights in Lisbon

Breakfast: French Toast with pistachio cream @ 7:15 a.m.

Lunch: Leftover chicken & rice @ 12:45 p.m.

Chicken was not enough. Had bread, sardine pate, cheese with tomato jam + white wine (verdelho)

In the evening, we went out to see Christmas lights in the center of Lisbon.

Our Favorite Chicken (Take Away)

Breakfast: Bolo de feijão, orange, coffee @ 7:20 a.m.

We have this chicken at least once a month. It tastes so good and the price is great too. We usually have only family chicken set (a whole grilled chicken, rice and french fries) and salad, but today tried picanha, my favorite steak now and naan.

Lunch: Picanha (6.50€), Mix salad (2€), Family chicken set including rice and french fries (10€), naan (1€)

Lunch @ Pirata

We went to one of our regular places, Pirata for lunch. We love this snack-bar serving everything we need such as delicious food & drinks, friendly communication and good price.

Hand writing daily specials (Prato do dia) are usually a good sign for local traditional freshly cooked Portuguese food.

He goes with a draft (imperial in Portuguese) and I took a glass of “sparkling wine” (vinho a pressão)

My lunch: Bacalhau com natas, a popular salted cod dish

His: Espetadas de frango, skewered grilled chicken with bacon, sausage, pineapple

Dessert (sobremesa): Rice budding (arroz doce), Portuguese egg tart (pastel de nata)

Coffee to closed the meal (café cheio). In Portugal, they don’t usually have coffee with dessert but after. Our lunch was 20€ including 2€ tip, which is not mandatory here.

2nd breakfast: Caldo verde @ 8:00 a.m. I probably had a pastry and coffee before this.

Snack: Mini kitkat & coffee @ 9:00 a.m.

O Almoço Na Calçada 28

Nós fomos até a Calçada 28, nosso restaurante favorito para comer o menu do almoço. Eu comi uma Favas Con Entrecosto e ele comeu uma Dourada No Forno.

Pratos Do Dia.

É a segunda vez. Já pergunto-me é uma estratégia para nós voltamos lá.

Nós vamos comer o almoço lá a próxima semana e pagar com o cartão de banco.
