Today we went for lunch at Pirata, one of our favorites. On the way, a shop, which had been closed for the lockdown, was finally open and its dog there too.
Today’s menu. Start with ‘Vinho à pressão’ @ 12:15 p.m.Mine: carne de porco à alentejana (6.50€)His: picanha do Uruguay grelhada (7.50€), We learn something new. “Bem ou mal passada? (Well done or rare?)” Probably “Médio a médio mal” is good for us.
Bombons, port wines, bolo de noz from O Melhor de MirandaBreakfast: walnut cake, orange, coffee @ 7:40 a.m.We got black mold on the wall, which is very typical in Poortugal during winter and the landlord had a cleaning lady to remove it. Lunch: Pork, cress, bread, Tejo red wine @ 1:40 p.m.Dessert
I got together with a friend for the first time after 3-month “lockdown” at a vegetarian restaurant. We shared a half bottle of white wine (6.50€). By the way, two ducks were wandering on the sidewalk. They probably reside in the park across the street.Prato do Dia (today’s special): Tofu com legumes e cogumelos, Rolo belga, Seitan em molho de cenoura, Lasanha de beterraba. We both ordered Prato Misto with 2 choices of main (8.25€). I had rolo & seitan, she had tofu & lasanha. All of them were so tasty.Sides were farro, salad and cole slaw. Food was good and service was nice. I would definitely come back soon!
On the way to next place, we found a cool bookstore/art gallery.
I have been curious about this store and finally took a look inside today. They have products from all over world by a fair trade and the store attendant/owner (?) was very nice.
Coffee time at this amazing place, you never know what’s inside from out side. After an hour we have to leave because they close at 4:00 p.m.We kept talking in the park for 2.5 hours. Time flies when having fun.Stopped by a favorite grocery store, where all the products are made in Portugal 🇵🇹
Meeting a new friend, who was introduced by a good friend of ours here. Today I feel so much joy of dining out and getting to know new people. This is something I missed during the lockdown.
Lunch: Thaio, chicken curry 11€ (his), Thunnus, seared tuna & quinoa 12€ (mine)I really liked mine. This is something that reminds me of California. Red lemonade no sugar added is good as well. I think lemonade in Portugal is just lemon juice and water basically.Dessert @ 3:20 p.m.
As I am more comfortable to communicate in Portuguese, I prefer to shop at traditional markets. Only a downside is that some venders do not accept debit card or just because a price is too small. I didn’t take pictures but I went to a market and got pork, sausages, eggs, some veggie, strawberries, bread…everything is so good 🙂Lanche: bacalhau omelette, bread, greens, wine @ 11:30 a.m.Lunch: Grilled pork, cress, rice, wine @ 1:00 p.m.Dessert: Lime tarte (oh no…)
In the afternoon, we decided to visit a museum because all museums and monuments (operated by Municipal Lisbon) offer free admission in April. On the way there, I saw my favorite t-shirt store was reopen after the lockdown and couldn’t resist from going in and buying…
We made it there, Museu de Santo Antonio in time. A tiny space with a full of art themed covid. Interesting 🙂
Lisbon Cathedral, Sé de Lisboa used to be a full of tourists but still was quiet with few people and only one tuktuk around there…
I love dogs in Lisbon. They are so calm, friendly and independent.
We all were craving for ramen, so made a reservation for a table on the “terrace.” I didn’t want to eat in crowded space and it usually gets busy after 1:00 p.m., but it got full by 12:30 p.m. this time. Because of the glass walls and umbrellas, I am not sure there is enough air circulation here…
Lunch time @ 12:20 p.m., I had a glass of vinho verde. They have an original IPA – Kombu Biru (seaweed beer), which a friend tried. My shoyu ramen was pretty good.
Tried match cheesecake. At the end, I realized that it was very “expensive” lunch. Total 60€. We usually pay less than 20€ for lunch…Ramen costs 12 – 15€ here, but it make sense that imported ingredients cost more and it takes a lot more time to make a bowl of ramen, especially broth.
Since the terrace got crowded, we moved to a park. Discussing our project for 4 hours!!!
