Há Caracóis! (We have snails)

The season of snails has come to Portugal. Everyone hangs out and enjoy caracóis e imperial (snails & draft beer) at the table outside. So we did too late afternoon on Sunday. When we tried them last summer I really couldn’t take it because they look just like snails. This time I really didn’t enjoy but it tasted better. I just wanna do as Portuguese people do 😛

Relaxing Friday

Caldo verde, empada de pato, Douro red @ 11:50 a.m.

Douro red is mostly blended with multiple grapes but this is only Touriga Nacional. Mmmm, I am not a fan of it because it’s more intense and less smooth.

Tried with croissant & sardine paste but still didn’t like it much.

Lunch: Linguini with meatball @ 2:30 p.m.

Visiting Honey Producer at a Market

Breakfast @ 8:00 a.m.

Leftover lasanha & vinho verde @ 12:10 p.m., We cleaned up the apartment in the afternoon after the contractor left. This morning I did a laundry twice.

Lunch: Napolitan with “shishito (pimento padrão)”

In the afternoon I visited a honey producer/vender at a market. I met the senhor last December at other market. He asked where I was from because his son studied Japanese. Then Bingo! I am Japanese. I offered a language exchange opportunity but his son was too shy to take it. He felt bad for me and offered an opportunity to practice my Portuguese with him instead. Such a nice guy…Today we talked a little more about ourselves in Portuguese and English too. He speaks English very well. Then an elderly assisted by a young policeman passed by in front of his stand. He was so happy to see it and take a moment in a photo. I bought a jar of lavender honey and honey vinegar. Also, cheese and “guanciale” at other vender.
